Opportunistic Success

Some photographers admit it and some don't, that the luck factor often plays a major role behind a successful image. This sunrise picture may be a good example. (There are no digital manipulations here; not even color or contrast enhancement).

This picture was taken very recently, on the last day of the decade from an island of the Florida Keys. In this all natural scene neither did I create the dramatic clouds nor had I any control on the sun rays breaking through. The sail boat just came by along the horizon, and also came the flock of flying birds. Everything together composed a beautiful scene in front of my eyes. All I did is to press the shutter button to capture the scene in my camera.

Well, maybe there is just a little more to it. I did make the effort to get up well before sunrise in an winter morning, leave the warmth of the room and go to the beach with my camera gears. Rest is luck.
